Let's get to the basics.

How do I play Lords & Legends?

Use this quick guide below to understand the basic fundamentals of Lords & Legends and jump right into the action.

Assemble Your Deck

Lords & Legends Standard Decks are composed of 1 Lord and 65 cards.

Players can customize their decks to their liking and may purchase Booster Packs and Starter Decks to add more cards to their collection!

Don't forget to bring your Tokens and Counters if your deck's strategy calls for it.

L&L Deck Construction guidelines can be found in the Official Rulebook.

Card Types

• There are 8 main types of cards in Lords & Legends - they are separated into two categories:

• Assets

  • Ground Units: The main forces of your Lord's army.
  • Starships: Your orbital fleet and aerial firepower.
  • Equipment: Tools used to empower your Units.
  • Monuments: Unique landmarks & relics that provide passive or active effects.
  • Lords: The leader of a deck.

• Non-Assets

  • Commands: Orders deployed by players to affect the war effort.
  • Terrain: Resource cards that power your deck.
  • Tokens: Additional forces summoned by in-game effects.

Prepare Your Territory

Place your Lord face-down in the Lord Zone.

Place your Deck into the Draw zone, then draw a starting hand of 8 cards.

All Players begin the game with 30 Life.

Let the battle begin!

Turn Phases

There are three chapters to a turn, each broken up by specific phases.

In Chapter 1, you energize all of your deployed cards back to their initial upright position, account for any energize effects at the start of your turn from cards or counters, then draw a card on your Draw Phase.

In Chapter 2, you may spend resources to deploy cards from your hand or activate your Lord abilities. On your Mobilize Phase, you may move deployed Units between zones, relocate your Lord, attach or drop Equipment cards, and utilize Shelters. On the Battle phase, you go to war!

Chapter 3 allows you another phase post-battle to deploy cards & activate abilities. You have an additional Mobilize Phase for movement, Equipment, and Shelters. On your Final phase, you account for any end of turn effects, then draw or discard depending on your hand size.

Deploy & Mobilize

You may deploy one Terrain card on your turn during your first or second Deployment Phase. Exhausting this type of card generates Magica into your resource pool. Spend this Magica to deploy cards from your hand or activate your Lord & other card abilities.

On your Movement Phase, you can move Ground Units between zones you control, move your Lord between zones to activate powerful new zone abilities, engage with Equipment modifying your Units, or move Units into Shelters to give them defensive bonuses.

To Battle!

On your Battle Phase, you can declare attacks with energized Units you control against other players, or against other Units directly.

If a player under attack has any energized Units, they may choose to defend the attack with those Units instead of taking damage and losing Life.

Players declare all attack targets at once. Then, defending players choose to take actions or defend the attack if their Life total is under fire. After responses, all combat damage is dealt simultaneously according to the Power Score of Units involved in battle vs targeted Unit's Defense Scores. If a Unit's Defense Score or a Player's Life total reaches zero, they are destroyed.

Hail the Victorious Dead.

Defeat other Units in battle to generate Starstones - by collecting 20 Starstones or defeating all other players, you win the game!

Stay vigilant - some card abilities and Lords can provide alternative paths to victory.

Good hunting out there.
